This fully-guided 6-day safari features three of Tanzania's most unique National Parks and Game Reserves. First you will experience Tarangire National Park, famous for its mighty baobab trees and thundering elephant herds. Next you will visit the famed Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in the world that boasts 25,000 large mammals ranging from lions, and wildebeest to impala and rhino. Lastly you will visit Lake Manyara National Park, known for its tree-climbing lions, flamingos, beautiful scenery and the soda-ash lake in the center. Day 1: Arrival in Kilimanjaro Airport
Monday, August 21
Your international flight arrives into Kilimanjaro International Airport where you’ll be collected and transferred to Kia Lodge, your “door to Tanzania.” Dinner is not included on this evening, but there are plenty of options available at the Kia Lodge.
Days 2-4: Tarangire National Park
Tuesday, August 22 - Thursday, August 24
After the Serengeti, Tarangire has the greatest concentration of wildlife in Tanzania. In the dry season (from June to
October) the Tarangire River has shrivelled to a shadow of its wet season self but it is choked with wildlife as it is the
only source of water for thousands of animals. Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams,
while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons – a smorgasbord
for predators. The swamps, tinged green year round, are the focus for 550 bird varieties, the most breeding species in one
habitat anywhere in the world.
On Day 2 you will meet up with your Asilia driver-guides and your traveling companions at a group breakfast before you begin your safari adventure from Kilimanjaro to Tarangire National Park, with a game drive included enroute to camp. A packed lunch will be provided to you, which you can enjoy during your drive.
After arriving at camp and settling into your tent, you’ll enjoy your first game drive of the park.
Days 4-6: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Thursday, August 24 - Saturday, August 26
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that takes its name from the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera, formed two to three million years ago. Approximately 25 000 large animals live in the natural enclosure formed by the 300km² crater, while the greater conservancy surroundings are home to wildebeest and zebra migratory movement in the wet season. Within the crater rim a daily wildlife drama is played out as large herds of zebra and wildebeest graze nearby lions, leopards, elephants and black rhinos.
You will rise early on the morning of Day and make your way to the Ngorongoro Crater where you will enjoy a full day game drive. A packed lunch will be provided for you for lunch. You will stop in a shady spot under the trees, maximising your time in this unforgettable landscape.
Day 6: Lake Manyara and Arrival in Arusha
Saturday, August 26
Lake Manyara National Park is known for its pink flamingos. More than 400 species of birds inhabit the park and many remain throughout the year. Visitors to the park can expect to see upwards of 100 different species of bird on any day. Cheetahs, elephants, blue monkeys, dik-dik, gazelles, hippopotami, Masai giraffe, impala, zebras and many more wild animals also inhabit this park and leopards and lions are both known to lounge in the trees while not hunting for prey.
Early on the morning of Day 6 you will depart the Lodge and travel to Lake Manyara National Park where you will enjoy a game drive with a packed lunch to enjoy en route. This afternoon you will depart Lake Manyara and make your way to Arusha where you will be dropped off at a central location in Arusha late afternoon.
At this point you must say farewell to your Asilia driver-guide. You will make your own way to your Arusha hotel. Taxis will be available to transfer you to your Arusha hotel (transfer and hotel not included).
